Dale Chihuly at the Denver Botanic Gardens

Today, the fam and I went to the Denver Botanic Gardens to see Dale Chihuly! He is my favorite glass artist and know him initially from my time in the PNW. He lives and works in Seattle and way back in the day, I even got to go to a dinner party at his boathouse/studio. It was unbelievable. Anyway, this display was no exception to the amazement that I feel every time I see his work with shape and color. Curated perfectly to the gardens blooms, it was a feast for the eyes.

{I thought this was so interesting...a little more severe than his typically soft organic shapes. Fabulous colors.}

{well, i just love this girl. :)}

{The Lotus flowers were spectacular throughout the gardens.}

{I love how the shape and color palette of this sculpture mimic the variegated leaves of the Lotus. perfection.}

{you guys must know: Denver is such a great city!}

{another uncharacteristic display...cumbersome and unrefined}

{French Provence}

{Sister loves RED!!}

{Thankful for a day with these guys!}

{perfection.}

Thanks to Pa for using his nifty membership to get us in! What a great day to explore!

Aspen to Crested Butte Hike

Friday morning, after checking in on the furniture, I left to drive my car to Crested Butte. Some girls were coming up from Denver to do the Aspen to Crested Butte Wildflower Hike!

{The high rockies had a very wet week-hence, the striking clouds.}

{At the start of the hike-Maroon Bells, Aspen}

{Megan, Megan, me, Suz, Carrie, Joni and Christy}

{Just before the final push up to the top of West Maroon Pass, 12,400ft, looking back towards Aspen.}

{Looking towards Crested Butte from the top of the pass.}

{Suz and I are the bookends...oldest and youngest in the group.}

 {Thrilled it's a bluebird day!}

{The girls said the flowers were much taller than last year because of all that glorious rain we've had! I couldn't believe how green it was.}

{Our 'album cover' photo...we pretended to be a band-ha!}

{Finished! 7 hrs and 12 miles later with a starting elevation of 8,000 ft (Aspen), summit of 12,400 ft (West Maroon Pass) and descent to 9,000 ft (Crested Butte).}
